Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar

Jenny’s grandmother’s old barn/garage in Marathon. Over Labor Day the aunts and uncles helped clear out much of the old contents of the house and barn. As most of the items to be found at the house are only distantly related to me, I felt I’d only be in the way and puttered around with the cameras searching for good, nostalgic-looking scenes.

Ansel Adams often wrote about Seeing, and the importance of having a good mental image of what the picture should look like before you ever press the shutter. I’m very happy with this image, and can honestly say that this is one of the few that I actually had a vision of before even walking into the barn.

Fujichrome Velvia RVP 50, shot with a Rolleiflex Opton Tessar 3.5F.
