With This Ring... —

As a hint for any photographer doing wedding shots and trying to figure out the background for a ring shot: use the guestbook. John and Tiffany’s guestbook was a wonderfully soft, white-covered book with a neat bow on it.
With a shoot-through umbrella, this made a great impromptu macro studio for doing ring detail shots without a tablecloth for a background. And by angling the rings correctly, you don’t have to worry about the dreaded “photographer reflection.”
