Valley of the Volcano

The landslide that precipitated the 1980 eruption moved the majority of the mountains volume down into the valley. Entire chunks of the mountain, called Hummocks, where transported whole down the valley.

The eruption provided conclusive evidence to explain the origins of similar bulging small hills seen around other volcanos, such as Mt. Shasta in California.
