Phragmipedium Kovachii

Phragmipedium Kovachii

This is an orchid species that was discovered in 2001 in the Amazon jungle of Peru, and is considered to be the most important orchid species to be found in the last 100 years. This is because of the size and color of the flowers. The flowers are up to 7 inches across, and are dark purple to magenta in color. To date, fewer than 10 plants of this species have bloomed here in the United States.

In 2005 Orchids Limited was one of the first nurseries here in the United States that was offering legal seedlings of this amazing species.
