Wildflower Dreams

The last time I shot a roll of film I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, particularly the technical aspects of exposure, composition, etc — and it sorely showed!

I was borrowing my father’s Pentax SLR to decide whether to purchase a digital SLR. I still have very little clue what I’m doing, but I’ve now read a lot more about exposure, composition, etc.

So after several years with digital SLRs, it occurred to me that my parents have a Rolleiflex TLR sitting in their basement that my father’s had for ages. I’d never seen him use it, but I was thinking about film again and that seemed like an interesting opportunity to see if I could apply what little technical knowledge I’ve gained over the past few years, and try on a less forgiving medium than a CMOS sensor…

This was my first exposed frame with the Rolleiflex — no recorded exposure, though I followed the Sunny 16 rule (as adjusted per the film specs) on Fujichrome Velvia RVP50, with some adjustments in Photoshop.

Thanks to Al for kindly offering to scan the film!
