Door County Iris

Door County Iris

I haven’t done many flower shots in a while, and this was one of only a few times I actually brought out the macro lens while in Door County. I think we were early in the season for the vast majority of flowers, but we were on the late side for Irises. Fortunately there were still a few left.

The lack of lens activity might be partly because during our Door County trip I was often weight testing my camera kit for our honeymoon later this year. I plan to bring three lenses with — the 17-40mm, a 50mm prime, and my 70-200mm. This following the wisdom of an older photographer, who recommended that I keep gear to a minimum, partly for practical reasons but also to not let photography itself become a distraction on a vacation meant for two (neither of them being my camera).
