Young Squirrel —
This past Wednesday I had opened the deck door to get some airflow and was working in the living room when I heard this horrible screech coming from outside. I went into the kitchen, expecting the noise to be coming from a scared rabbit, but found this juvenile squirrel sitting bewildered just outside the screen, staring in.
Now, this guy didn’t look like everything was there — I wasn’t about to risk a bite, but the screen was there, and he seemed perfectly content to sit about a foot from me. So I slowly got my camera, and took his picture.
I haven’t seen this guy again — whether he survived or not, or just grew up into a normal squirrel. I’d just as soon not run into him again, since his behavior was weird enough that I worried. But here’s his picture!
