I’ve always had a love for fountain pens, and after hearing the recommendation of a college professor who shared that love I found myself several years ago purchasing a fairly inexpensive Pelikan. According to this professor (and my experience since), Pelikan fountain pens have the great property of writing reliably, even after a great period of disuse—and I mean perfect ink-stream from the first time you touch the nib to paper, no scratching back and forth like a disused ballpoint!

Anyway, about the wedding—it’s a funny story…

On a lark, I decided the day of the wedding shoot to bring my fountain pen along in my coat pocket. I figured it was quite possible they wouldn’t have nearly as photogenic a pen (mine isn’t ornate, but a fountain pen nib just photographs better). And it turns out their guestbook pen was a fairly common rollerball wrapped in ribbon.

After a couple photos with that pen, I figured it was time to pull out the Pelikan. I feel these photos definitely looked better. But when I finished, and started to put my pen away, I realized it might look like I was trying to steal the bride and groom’s nice guestbook pen!

Oh well… Things turned out fine.
