Holiday Whine

Holiday Whine

I’ve often thought disparagingly of my Canon 30D’s ISO 1600 — or really anything over ISO 400 for anything where I’d appreciate some detail. But during the recent holiday gatherings, I’ve found myself shooting anywhere from ISO 800-1600, and even an ISO 3200 (which I can’t remember if I posted on this site, or just tweaked in Aperture). And I must concede that I haven’t given my humble 30D enough credit…

Although I haven’t gotten great shutter speeds, I’ve been able to shoot 1/60th at f/2.2-f/2.5 and still get fairly sharp results at ISO 1600 — good enough certainly for photoblog usage! Perhaps I’ll have to give my camera’s higher ISOs a second chance…

You’ll be seeing the results from Wausau over the next few days — people shots, mind you, and ones where you’ll see the detail… Perhaps more than my subjects will truly appreciate…
